In addition to the physical and chemical properties of the material itself, the granulation process is closely related to the form and mechanical properties of the granulation equipment. The main control indicator for granulation is the moisture content of the material. Generally speaking, it is more appropriate to adjust the moisture content of the material to 50% to 55%. Conditional factories use steam humidification for material granulation, and hot water granulation is better than cold water granulation. Excessive moisture in the material can lead to the formation of large-sized balls, while insufficient moisture in the material can result in a low granulation rate of loose sandy powder. The main types of granulation equipment include disc granulators, drum granulators, extrusion granulators, etc.

pan granulator

The particles produced by the disc granulation mechanism are spherical in shape, and the particle size is related to the inclination angle of the disc and the amount of water added. Intuitive operation, easy control and adjustment, low cost. Suitable for small fertilizer factories. The disadvantage of the equipment is that the output of a single device is low. If multiple parallel devices need to be connected, there are many conveying devices that cannot be enclosed, and dust and exhaust gases are prone to overflow and difficult to control, which requires high skills for the granulator.

Drum granulator

It has the advantages of large production capacity of a single device, good sealing, no dust and exhaust gas overflow, easy setting of automatic control of feeding and spraying, long residence time of materials in the cylinder, and high particle strength. At present, large and medium-sized fertilizer production plants all use rotary drum granulation. Some factories also connect disc granulators and drum granulators in series for secondary granulation, and the effect is good.

Extrusion Granulator

There are mainly roller type, double roller type, and single axis type. The shape of the particles is mainly pressed according to the shape of the ball socket on the roller skin. There are currently multiple options available: pillow shaped, semi-circular granular, strip shaped, pill shaped, walnut shaped, flat circular, square shaped.
